As a CDO, could you share an example of a particularly challenging digital strategy you developed and successfully implemented? What were the key factors that contributed to its success?

Developing and implementing a successful digital strategy in a Greenfield environment required a collaborative and agile approach. Instead of a rigid long-term plan, we co-created a dynamic two-year roadmap with CXOs, outlining impacts, milestones across technology adoption, process optimization, and cultural change. Constant feedback loops via daily stand-ups, usability testing, and customer-centric design ensured our solutions met user needs. Embracing agility while balancing top-down strategic direction and bottom-up innovation laid the foundation for a thriving digital strategy.

Enterprise architecture plays a critical role in the development and execution of digital initiatives. Can you elaborate on your experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise architectures, particularly in terms of scalability, security, and interoperability?

Enterprise architecture (EA) happened to be my first role when we started DTX journey, it is the bedrock for scalable, secure, and interoperable digital initiatives. In my experience, a strong EA strategy thrives on agility and innovation. For instance, we bypassed vendor lock-in by developing a cloud based custom Master Data Management (MDM) solution built on existing data lakes, enhancing data security and creating a single source of truth with golden records. However, gaining buy-in requires a balanced approach – we built an MVP to quickly demonstrate value. Fostering an agile culture and nurturing a network of innovative partners empowers organizations to embrace new technologies and scale digital initiatives efficiently.

With inspiring expertise in IoT, edge computing, and AI/ML, can you share a project where you utilized these technologies to enhance operational efficiency or create innovative solutions within your organization?

Our transformation into a smart factory exemplifies the power of IoT, edge computing, and AI/ML. By extracting and analysing data from diverse sources, we created a single source of truth, enabling real-time insights into KPIs, production losses, worker efficiency, Energy management, OLE/OEE, quality defects, and condition-based maintenance. This comprehensive data analysis resulted in a remarkable 35% reduction in manufacturing costs for our commodity products. Navigating this complex digital transformation required overcoming hurdles like extracting data from proprietary machines, fostering a cultural shift towards data-driven optimization, and on boarding teams through robust change management strategies.

With hands-on experience in over 200 digital initiatives, including product management, DevOps, and Agile methodologies, can you share a project that particularly stands out to you and the lessons learned from it?

Our pioneering virtual showroom project, a first-ever immersive 3D buying experience, transformed the customer journey. This ground breaking initiative ventured into uncharted territory, demanding a collaborative and agile approach. Co-creating solutions with development teams, fostering seamless collaboration via DevOps principles, and iterating rapidly based on user feedback ensured alignment with evolving needs. Key lessons included the importance of constant user feedback, embracing calculated risks to explore new frontiers, and the transformative potential of agile methodologies and a culture of continuous innovation.

RPA & AI/ML technologies have transformative potential across various industries. Can you discuss a successful use case you’ve led and the impact it had on operational efficiency or cost savings?

RPA and AI/ML’s transformative potential was exemplified in our freight inward process automation. Implementing RPA bots using OCR eliminated manual data entry, while AI/ML ensured accuracy, resulting in a 55% reduction in processing time and a remarkable 95% first-time-right rate. Real-time data visibility empowered data-driven decision-making across the organization. This project showcased the power of automation and AI/ML to streamline operations, boost accuracy, and empower employees for higher-value tasks.

Change management is often a critical aspect of digital transformation. How do you approach leading teams through change and ensuring successful adoption of new digital initiatives?

Leading digital transformations requires a nuanced approach to change management. Transparency, open communication, and benchmarking industry best practices set realistic expectations. Building an agile foundation through MVPs, PMO trackers, and regular user feedback facilitates rapid iteration and course correction. Equipping teams through training, fostering strong synergies with business units, and establishing clear priorities with measurable goals empower successful adoption of new digital initiatives. This comprehensive strategy acknowledges the emotional journey of change while driving value realization.
